Sansonina Lugana
This Sansonina Lugana comes from the Sansonina estate, associated with Zenato, and is made from 100% Trebbiano grown on calcareous clay soils in the mild Lake Garda climate around Peschiera del Garda. Harvest takes place at the end of September. Vinification is carried out entirely in stainless steel, producing a fresh, fruity white that shows the grape’s characteristic profile. The wine matures for six months in steel and bottle before release.
Sansonina Lugana: tasting notes
Sansonina Lugana is clear, straw-gold in colour with greenish highlights. The nose is fresh, floral and fruity, with a light honey note followed by mango, passion fruit, peach and apricot. On the palate it is intense and broad, with a creamy texture, juicy character and a fresh mineral line.
A Lugana beyond the familiar labels
The source records a 93/100 James Suckling score for the 2012 vintage and notes recognition for other vintages. Vintage-specific awards are not a claim for the current bottle. James Suckling described the 2012 as ‘a dense and delicious white with mango, honey and cream character’, finishing with peach and apricot.
